The year 2025 is devoted to the two-part exhibition “Rita Karrer: Schlaglichter”, honouring the East Bavarian artist Rita Karrer, who passed away in 2022. The exhibition offers an overall impression of the work of one of Regensburg’s most important representatives of Concrete Art.
Positive and life-affirming, Rita Karrer herself poetically framed her life with the phrase “La dolce V/Rita” - a life shaped by her development into an artistic personality who embraced life in all its facets and later reduced it rigorously to the essential without losing anything of substance.
The range of her early experiments and colourful forms of expression was the focus of the first show, presented from 23 May to 27 September 2025. On 2 October 2025, the second part follows with works of clear geometric forms, some staged in monochrome.
This second part, “Schlaglichter II”, focuses above all on her Concrete Art. Over decades, the artist developed a language of material and colour and applied it consistently to mathematical-geometric constructions, reducing ideas to line, form and material with technical precision.
