The historic rooms of the AltstadtQuartier were renovated and redesigned in 2019. Kathrin Fuchshuber wanted to make the family history visible while also giving room to her love of typography, graphics, art and craftsmanship. All rooms are equipped with modern lighting concepts by Flos. PINA consists of four rooms defined by light and colour: the lithography workshop, the graphic gallery, the PINA Bar and the mirror cabinet.

Lithography Workshop Regensburg

Permanent exhibition: “Franz Anton Niedermayr - 222 years of family history in Regensburg” Niedermayr stated at Regensburg City Hall that he wished to operate a business in “music and type engraving” on stone. The corresponding residence and trade permit was granted to him on 17 September 1801, after which he opened a printing house in Brückstraße. Niedermayr probably became familiar with the basics of lithography during his stay in Munich. Thanks to his knowledge of chemistry and physics, he succeeded in developing his own lithographic process between July 1800 and June 1801. By opening the lithography workshop in the AltstadtQuartier, siblings Johannes Helmberger and Kathrin Fuchshuber make their family history visible to interested people from Regensburg as well as national and international guests in the historic city centre. Gallery rails allow changing artists to enter into dialogue with the room and to contrast the present with tradition. |
Graphic Gallery

The open spatial concept between the lithography workshop and the graphic gallery also reflects the process from creation to reception. The graphic gallery contains the first collage designed by Ms Fuchshuber especially for her rooms, made from individual coloured glass magnetic panels installed in three dimensions. During exhibitions it serves as an optional background for smaller works that can be experienced directly there. |
PINA Bar

In the morning, the main room serves as the central breakfast room; in the evening, it becomes a stylish bar. The daylight from the Art Nouveau glass ceiling of the former beer garden, which was roofed over at the beginning of the 20th century, is replaced in the evening by the warm indirect glow of the golden band surrounding the room. Gallery rails with individually adjustable lights for exhibits above the surrounding wall panelling provide maximum flexibility for presenting works of art. |
Mirror Cabinet

In the smallest area, the former butcher’s shop, a room-filling mirror faces a second magnetic collage made of glass magnetic panels - creating an intimate space for reflection. The coloured glass surfaces of the collage wall correspond with the surrounding rooms and invite photographs or small-scale works to be perceived in a shared context. |
Street Art in the Building

Across four floors in the inner courtyard of the AltstadtQuartier stretches “MyLady Regensburg”, a mural by artist Andre Maier, who also designed another passageway in the reception area in his opulent and unmistakable style. |
